About the Game

The Neverhood is a 1996 PC game made entirely from clay and filmed in stop-motion. Envisioned by Doug TenNapel and with music by Terry Taylor, it is somewhat of a religious epic, although quirky humour is the more obvious focal point.

The game itself has only 4 real main characters -

Hoborg

One of seven beings who was given a crown, and with it, the power to create his own world.
His crowned brothers are Ogdilla, Bertbert, Numeron, Ottoborg, Homen and Arven.

Hoborg put all his love and effort into making his world, then known as the Everhood. He intended it to be an eternal kingdom of happiness, but on making the first inhabitant of his world, things started to go awry.

Klogg

The first being Hoborg made to start bringing people into his new world. Klogg originally looked more innocent, but immediately after creation he wanted to have Hoborg's crown for himself. He snatched the crown away and put it on, taking Hoborg's power, which mutated his appearance and left Hoborg lifeless.

Klogg became the new ruler of the Neverhood, and it looked like there would be no hope for restoring it, apart from...

Willie

A goofy hoophead, son of Ottoborg, who became friends with Hoborg and witnessed the Neverhood's creation. When Klogg took over he went into hiding, unable to help all by himself... but managed to sneak off with Hoborg's last remaining life seed, which could be used to make a new being.

He escaped to the other end of the Neverhood, as far away from Klogg as possible, and planted the seed in the hope of making a person capable of taking Klogg down and bringing Hoborg back to life...

Klaymen

Confused and alone, Klaymen stumbles into a strange world, immediately burdened with being its only hope. He gets hints from Willie along the way, and has to traverse the entire Neverhood in order to confront Klogg, facing obstacles with bright enthusiasm and childlike optimism.

If he can foil Klogg's plan and get the crown back to its rightful owner, the Neverhood will be saved, Hoborg will awaken, and the way will be open for the world to at last find its inhabitants...
