Origin: Ottoborg wished for having his first and only daughter. Unfortunately he failed every time to create her.

During his visits to the Neverhood he envied his younger brother for his great planet and huge family... and his daughters.

Known for his big heart, king Hoborg gave Ottoborg a box with a tiny life seed and said: “I have some difficulties to bring her to life. Maybe you will succeed.”

After coming back to his little planet Ottoborg right away began his attempts to give life to the seed. He was very surprised how hard it was and even he couldn’t do it for the first time. After many days and failed tries finally the seed grew into a new being. His own daughter!

How shocked he was when he realized that it was a little baby girl. How could this happen? He thought it will all grown up. However, he immediately hugged her with joy and welcomed her to the world and said: “I will call you Caline.” Even after the baby has grown up into a young woman, no one knew how was it possible that she was created as a baby. Someone thought and said once that Hoborg keeps some seeds for his children, so they could have their own. These seeds were to be different just like the one Caline came from. Hoborg might have given one to Ottoborg by a mistake.

But why the king of the Neverhood had problems with it? Ottoborg believed that it was a special life seed and only he with his powers could give life to it. Sometimes the two brothers were arguing about that.

Profile: Judging from her looks, Caline doesn’t resemble her father at all. Everyone mistakes her for one of Hoborg’s children, because technically she was created by him. She distinguishes herself by wearing bright, colourful clothes. What’s mostly characteristic about her are eyes on her palms – similiar to those Ottoborg has.

Caline is quite weird. She is both lazy and full of energy. She is a happy-go-lucky girl with great imagination. Caline hates all kinds of conflicts so she avoids them. It is because she can’t protect herself and she’s easy to get hurt (emotionally). On the other hand she is one who likes to tease others.

Sometimes she can be seen walking around, blank and tired from using up too much energy. She inherited about a half of Ottoborg’s powers. Her biggest passion is drawing. Usually she uses her finished drawings for social and defence purposes. That is because she may bring to life creatures she draws. Her favourites are Max, Henio and Szunkupka (read Shoonkoopkah). Unfortunately they don’t live for too long and die painlessly by popping up.

On Ottoborg’s little planet she doesn’t have anyone to hang with. There is only Ottoborg, Dud and her. Unlikely for the ruler himself, he prefers to sit somewhere and spend time alone. And Dud.. he’s not too talkative. So she made friends with her cousins from the world of Neverhood. Caline really cares for them and loves to spend her time together. Especially with Cori who doesn’t mind that Caline keeps babbling about absolute nonsense and behaves weirdly from time to time.

There are also some Hoodians who she doesn’t like at all. For example she somehow dislikes Kaylie. Caline thought that once she had feelings for her father and it made her jealous.

As for her love life.. she and Nehmen used to be in almost ideal relationship. They cared for each other so much, but sadly because of her they split up. All because she started to like Ottoborg’s company too much. She started to think that only because he brought her to life and took care of her, he’s the only one she can give her love to him in return. She decided to never leave him, ever. She is aware that she is his daughter, but she believes that love will surpass this situation.
