Origin: Due to an accident, Karly's seed was vertically deformed: it was more bean shaped than seed shaped, with noticeable curves at the two ends and a smaller middle at the center.

Hoborg decided to bring the seed to life despite his concerns and Karly was born.

The first thing that Hoborg noticed about Karly was that she was exactly like the bean-shaped seed: vertically deformed (short) with noticeable curves around the body and a small middle. Hoborg was delighted that his seed was not only grew into a hoOdian, but a unique and joyous accident.

Profile: Karly is currently the hoOd’s shortest inhabitant. Although small in size, she has big ideas and aspires to do great things, despite her disadvantage.

During her first moments in the NeverhoOd she explored the Hall of Records. She was so astounded by the history behind the universe that for her first year at the NeverhoOd was spent reading adventures recorded through time. Karly spent so much time alone that Hoborg became concerned. Karly, being a loving hoOdian by nature, tried to tolerate Hoborg’s attempts to remove her from the Hall of Records. However, one day Karly violently demanded that he leave her in peace. After multiple attempts to apologize Hoborg gave up and, with a heavy heart, let her be.

Karly eventually grew tired of reading the same tales over and over again. She ultimately decided that she couldn’t stand another day on her own and left the Hall of Records. After a day-or-so of walking around a home that she never opened up to, she didn’t see the purpose in being in a place where she didn’t belong. She climbed to the highest peak in the NeverhoOd and attempted to jump, only to be stopped by the highest peak in the NeverhoOd: Big Robot Bil.

Big Robot Bil was Karly's first friend. From being around a friend she discovered more about herself than she ever did alone: she learned that she is an excellent mechanic, her short stature allowing her to squeeze into harder-to-reach places for repairs; she learned that she is built for physical activities, such as running and swimming; and that all of her time spent with Bil - repairing him and etc. - had given her an eye for detail like no other.

Through Bil, Karly met Willie and Klaymen. The two of them expanded Karly’s personality, and discovered that Karly is a supportive and trustworthy friend; seeing her friends through their troubles until the end. Her best quality is how much she loves to laugh and make others laugh as well. However, spending time with them also revealed that Karly is a little too impulsive – her ‘leap first and look later’ love for adventure proving to be a hassle for the unprepared. Furthermore, any suggestion of criticism concerning her height revealed that Karly is a violent hoOdian when provoked: throwing punches and curses at anyone who insults her height.

Eventually, Karly reconnected with her father, apologized, and had an emotional moment with Hoborg as the two made peace. Hoborg reintroduced her to the members of the NeverhoOd as if she had been reborn, and since then Karly has been a true member of the NeverhoOd. She currently resides with Big Robot Bil (tending to his circuits from time-to-time) and spends most of her leisure time fixing broken machines, listening to hoOdian Koren’s music in the square, dancing with Klaymen or Kleptok, or attacking those who insult her friends (and her height).
